Congratulations to our VP nominee, Kamala Harris, who paid homage to the women who shaped her, especially her mother and the trailblazers who paved the way for her to have arrived at this historic moment. She called the roll on behalf of the countless women who organized, struggled, and sacrificed throughout our history for a more just and perfect union. She reminded us that when women were granted the right to vote by the 19th Amendment, celebrated this week, Black women faced abject disenfranchisement; discrimination and direct intimidation until the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed.

We must protect and exercise our right to vote when we go to the polls this November. This will be an opportunity to meet the moment with courage and determination to deliver a vision for our country that stands for the good of the people. We must not let our children down. We must #voteforchange.

"As Americans we all stand on their shoulders." Kamala Harris

Michelle Obama spoke to us as a Mom who hates politics and as an American who cares deeply about our country and all of us. Her brutally honest conversation with America gave us a correct assessment about where we are and what we need to do to make sure our kids have a shot at a good future. We need a leader who has the moral courage and discipline to meet the moment. Someone with empathy.

Her case is clear. We must vote in sheer numbers that cannot be disregarded.

“We have got to grab our comfortable shoes, put on our masks, pack a brown bag dinner and maybe breakfast too, because we’ve got to be willing to stand in line all night if we have to.”

For the entirety of my career, I’ve been a champion for working families and making sure everyone in Long Island has a fair shot at their piece of the American Dream.

In my advocacy, I’ve always stood up for women and oppressed groups long forgotten by the Republican establishment.

To this end, I am so honored to have recently been selected by Eleanor’s Legacy as a priority race for 2020.

Eleanor’s Legacy is a progressive group that has pushed for the election of Democratic women for years – and I am so happy to have them in my corner as we continue this campaign.

They know what we know – that the 4th Senate District needs a dedicated public servant who can be trusted to serve our community with honesty and integrity. Voters want a real representative. They are tired of lazy, lifetime politicians who just show up for photos.

Most importantly, they know that our opponent doesn’t speak for this district and if we reach enough voters, we will be victorious in November.

That said, building the coalition we need to win won’t come cheap.

Will you make a donation to set our campaign on a path to victory?
Whether as a long time teacher, labor activist, or as your Assemblywoman, you know that I’ve stood up to corrupt institutions my entire life.

With your support I’ll continue doing this as your Senator.

Thank you for any help you can provide - I can't do this without you.

Some good news regarding NYS annual 3-8 State Asse Some good news regarding NYS annual 3-8 State Assessments. Here is the #NYSED memo on the suspension of their shipment of testing materials and computer based testing window. This is a good first step, but a full cancellation and waiver of the test is still needed from Washington. Our Legislators in Albany should act if the #USDOE and Betsy DeVos won’t prioritize American kids in times of a public health crisis.
“During the time of closure, schools need not focus on State assessments and can devote their efforts toward local school and community needs.”
